Every dream is a window - to what we want, to what could be, to how things might or even should be. But some dreams can come without sleep. Like my sons and me.
I never thought parenting and life could be like this. Or that my life could be so completely taken over. I have some remnants of my past with life with me yet, but mostly, I just go through each day like I am looking at my life - seeing myself do these things - like an outsider. I see myself singing and dancing to songs with looking for smiles and hugs like they are the most precious things that will go away with time. Men and boys do not hug, or at least did not when it was me and my father. But I do intend to change that. My boys will be embarrassed but they will learn it is always okay to hug your parents and sibling and children. It does not matter how old or how embarrassing it may be, but showing affection is one of the greatest pleasures that life has to offer. As men, as people, we need to embrace it. Now guess, who's getting a hug! |
